Fiaz RashidFiaz Rashid is a qualified lecturer & has over 16 years experience of teaching in further & higher education. He has always found time for his various voluntary roles for some twenty years and has been instrumental in the development, planning and management of many initiatives. During that time he has gained a considerable expertise in the issues that impact upon the BME VCS, including lack of capacity, poor political support, competition for scant funding, perceived and real exploitation by mainstream agencies, etc. Fiaz was founder member of Pakistan & Kashmir Welfare Association in 1990 overseeing the development of a purpose built community owned community centre in 1998 and many of the service developments of this vibrant and successful community organisation; founder members of Awaaz, and served on the editorial board for many years. He has also served as Director of Batley City Challenge for five years, where he had specific lead responsibility for the Cultural Fund & Community Buildings (BCC was a major regeneration programme with a multi-million pound budget).
