Justina Oraka

Justina Oraka's background is in Education, Training and Development, havnig gained a BA(ED), an MA and a PGCE. She has more than 15 year experience working in the voluntary and Community Sector. She was the chair of the Hull Women’s Centre for 3 years, worked for the Hull and East Riding Race Equality Council as a Development worker and Bransholme Women’s Centre as Employment and Training Development Worker. She also managed Preston Road NDC Community Project for 3 years focusing on Capacity building and Community Involvement.

She is on the Board/Trustees of various national and Local Organisations namely Probation Service, SAFE Women’s Training Company, MIND, Northern Hull Development Trust, Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), Job Centre Plus Ethnic Minority Advisory Group, Hull United Residents and Tenants (HURAT). She was a Mental Health Act Commissioner for 4 years and served on their Equal Opportunities Committee, as well as being a founder member of the Africa Forum and a member of Humber all Nations Alliance.

Her freelance work entails designing, delivering and facilitating training around personal development and equalities and diversity. She delivers generic training in Equal Opportunities/Race and Cultural Awareness, Anti Oppressive Practices, Harassment in the Work place, Women’s Studies, Community Work Skills, Basic Counselling and listening Skills, Volunteer Training, Assertiveness and Inter personal skill. She also provides Consultancy Services – working with organisations to create workable policies, carry out project reviews and evaluation. Through her work, she has been able to work with different people from a wide range of background.
