Sara SaxonSara has been a Community Development Officer in England for 17 years. She has worked mainly in Inner city multi racial/cultural areas in London and Sheffield. Her work experience has mainly focused in developing projects/organisations within the black and ethnic communities, e.g. Women Resource Centre, presentation and representations on the boards of service providers and developing Community forums. For the last five years she has been the manger of SAVTE, an organisation which provide language tuition to the most excluded and isolated members of our society. They are people who are unable to access mainstream education provision. She is passionately committed to the principle of social justice and creating change – by empowering and enabling communities to engage and participate in the decision making processes which affect their lives. She strongly believe that given the opportunity and the right support people from deprived communities are best placed to identify the right solutions to the issues and challenges they are facing.
