Sheila Saunders has been the Chief Executive of Leeds Jewish Housing Association since 1987.

For many years Sheila has engaged in activities that challenge social injustice and inequalities. She has been actively involved in voluntary groups and statutory organisations seeking change in the delivery of housing, health and social care issues to members of all BME communities.

She has a wide range of experience through research and the provision of support services on issues affecting women who experience violence and abuse from known others. She is committed to the equality and empowerment of all women both inside and outside their own communities.

Both in a personal and professional capacity as a Jewish woman, a mother, a grandmother and a housing professional, Sheila is passionate about fighting discrimination and working to promote harmony and understanding between BME and other communities living in the UK, ensuring that people treat each other with dignity and respect.
