Participatory Budgeting is a proven method of giving local people a direct say in how part of a public budget is spent in their communities. Interest in the adoption of PB as a way of making empowerment meaningful is growing in the UK and features strongly in the recent “Communities In Control” White Paper.

The seminar is aimed at public bodies and community groups with an interest in PB. It will:
• provide an overview of the background to PB
• explore the policy and practice of PB in the UK
• help delegates to consider the benefits for public agencies and communities, and to consider approaches to implementation
